When I tried that water trick I learned very quickly that gophers cannot breathe under water. I killed it. I’ve never admitted that to anyone until just now. And while it would seem that victory was mine- it in fact, was not. Not only did I suffer with shame and remorse, but a new gopher moved in almost immediately. I am not by a nature a gopher killer- which is why I now keep them as pets.
